NORTH CYPRUS
The capital, Nicosia, has an old town centre similar to that of Famagusta, an ancient city whose centre is surrounded by a 5.5 km long city wall which is still intact. The northeast the mythical Five Finger Mountains guard the city. This rock mountain rises 1050 metres above sea level and harbours the legend of the Byzantine hero Digenis, who defeated the invading Arabs with supernatural strength. One of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean lies on the Rizokarpaso (Karpaz) peninsula on the easternmost tip of the island and is a nesting ground for endangered loggerhead and green turtles. North Cyprus, where all water-sport activities are on offer, also gives the opportunity to see rich archaeological ruins and beautiful historical memorials. Cyprus having the most unique beauties is a peerless heaven with over 300 days shining sun, clean and perfect beaches and rich nature. Additionally, if one considers the rich local cuisine and warm-blooded people, there is nothing lacking in Cyprus to have an ideal holiday. If they are a nature-addict, an archaeologist, a jogger, a sportsman, an incentive traveller, a professional/ business person or a sun-lover, the island is the ideal place for people to be. Tourism is also the most important industry in North Cyprus.
